Apple’s tap-to-use student IDs let pupils buy food and badge into their dorms

Today’s college students rely on their ID cards for almost everything, including using them to get into the gym or to buy the cafeteria’s beloved turkey-avocado sandwich. That means losing their ID can make navigating campus difficult, and cards can be a pain to replace. Now, Apple has a way for students to integrate their ID cards into their iPhones and Apple Watches so they can buy a sandwich without the need for their physical card. Apple is expanding the program to 12 universities so more students can use the technology.

 The expansion comes as Apple builds more uses for Apple Pay and Wallet, including last week’s launch of the Apple Card and a test that lets commuters use Apple Pay at some bus and subway stations in New York City’s MTA. Apple wants to encourage users to adopt Apple’s payment services and, in doing so, have more difficulty leaving Apple’s walled garden. Apple said in July that iPhone sales are now less than half of Apple’s revenue, so the company needs its growing services business to bring in the money that the iPhone business doesn’t.

 Three universities initially supported ID cards in Apple Wallet when the feature launched in October, and more have added support since then. Here is the full list of universities that Apple says will support the tech this school year:

I know there are a few times when I would have appreciated being able to buy that turkey-avocado sandwich when I forgot to bring my ID to campus.

Can Kantanka Latest Military Inventions Save Ghana Or They Will Just Remain TOYS?

The guys at the Kantanka Technological Centre Of Excellence (KTCE) launched a set of military stuff at the 38th edition of the Technological exhibition of the Kantanka company. At the launch where a range of new products where exhibited, the KTCE showcased an armored military vehicle with a laser rangefinder. They also showcased Iron Man inspired suits for military men. In a video sighted by Mysweetnewsonline, some men were in the new Iron-man Inspired suits walking as the armored vehicle followed. We don’t know if soldiers would be able to run in these Iron-man suits or are even bullet-proof but we assume they are all just prototypes and not really ready to be used by the military. The armored vehicle even has stairs, which we were not expecting–Soldiers just jump, they don’t need stairs to climb an armored vehicle when going to war. Apple may include USB-C charger and Lightning cable in the box with new iPhones

There have been plenty of rumors about what type of connector Apple will equip its new iPhones with now that the iPad Pro and its MacBook line use USB-C. We’re finally starting to get a clearer picture of what that reality might look like come September. According to Japanese blog Mac Otakara, the new iPhone models, of which there are rumored to be three in line with last year’s release, may not contain USB-C ports, as we’ve been hearing. They might, however, ship with a faster 18W USB-C charger and a Lightning to USB-C cable. That would make a lot of sense. Apple may not be ready to ditch Lightning just yet, but it looks like the company could try making iOS users’ lives a little bit easier.
